Rochdale MP, Tony Lloyd, has congratulated the anti-racism educational charity, Show Racism the Red Card, for engaging one million people through their anti-racist educational programmes.
Tony said, “Show Racism the Red Card has played an important role in increasing understanding of racism, not just in sport settings but also in workplaces and among adults and children in schools.
“We must do all we can to challenge racism and prejudice when it rears its ugly head and to have worked with a million people through their campaigning is a staggering milestone and one to be proud of.
“I wish everyone involved every success in continuing to teach both young and older people the skills to recognise and challenge racism.”
Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was established in January 1996, thanks in part to a donation by then Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop. Tony joins 40 cross-party MPs in signing a Parliamentary motion congratulating the charity on reaching this impressive milestone.
