2022 has been a chaotic year and one most of us will be glad to see the end of. But at this time of year in particular we must offer our thanks and support to our NHS staff and care workers, and show them that we value their work even if the government does not.

We must also thank our emergency service workers, paramedics, police officers and fire and rescue workers, as well as dedicated volunteers in our communities who bind Rochdale and our wider society together.

But to everyone, I wish you all the best wishes for Christmas and a peaceful 2023.
